Hungarian Wines

Dunavar
Dunavar, literally translated,
means Danube Castle. The name itself, as is the name Connoisseur Collection,
is a registered trademark established by Danubiana Bokereskeda, a
company which is located in Bonyhad, Hungary. Danubiana itself is
a subsidiary company of Binderer-St. Ursula (BSU) which is a major
German wine company located in Bingen.
BSU started importing Hungarian wines some 40 years ago, and today
is the largest buyer of Hungarian wines in Europe. With a market share
of over 50%, BSU is the undisputed market leader in Germany.
As a result of the size of these companies and the dominant role they
play in the wine market, they are not only able to select the best
products available, but negotiate extremely favorable prices. The
modern facilities in Hungary ensure consistency and control that produces
wine of exceptional quality.

"Fresh and fruity, with
a young, vibrant quality, this wine offers plenty of mixed berry and
purple fruit flavors with just the lightest touch of oak. Perfect
for picnic"
The name bull's blood
probably originates from the battles against the Turkish armies around
1552. To motivate and support the small group of soldiers at Eger
castle they were served delicious food and a lot of red wine. Among
the Turkish soldiers it was rumored that bull's blood was mixed into
the red wine, as otherwise the strength and firm resistance of the
town and castle of Eger could not be explained. Finally the enemy
gave up.
EGRI BIKAVER is the most
reputed and traditional wine from Hungary besides the Tokaj wines.
The wine itself is a
blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Kekfrankos,
a Bordeaux made the Hungarian way.
